Enhancing Your Dog’s Grooming Experience
Find quick answers to popular questions about our grooming services and pet care.
Are you trained to handle anxious or senior dogs?
Yes, I have over 20 years of grooming experience and extensive expertise with all breeds, ages and personalities of dogs.
What payments do you accept?
I currently accept payments via cash, e-transfer, debit, and credit cards at Callander location and cash or e-transfer at Corbeil location.
If I am late for my appointment, will you still groom my dog?
Everyone has a 15-minute window to arrive. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you will need to reschedule. When appointments run late, it causes delays for everyone scheduled after you, potentially extending wait times by over an hour throughout the day. Please be mindful of this and arrive on time to keep things running smoothly.
Do you require appointments or accept walk-ins?
Appointments are required for all services; I do not accept walk-ins. I primarily work one-on-one with each client. My hours vary daily, and often I am only available when I have dogs scheduled for grooming. Please text 705-303-1909 to book an appointment or reserve your spot online. Thank you!
How often should I schedule grooming appointments for my dog?
Most dogs benefit from grooming every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain a healthy, clean coat. While many dogs do well with grooming every 4 to 6 weeks, some may require more frequent sessions, and others can go a bit longer. Regular grooming offers numerous benefits: your pet will feel more comfortable, look and smell great, and avoid painful matting. Please don’t wait until your dog’s coat becomes matted before scheduling a grooming appointment!
What types of grooming services do you offer for dogs?
I provide baths, haircuts, nail trims, ear cleaning, and special treatments tailored to each dog’s needs.
Do you groom large dogs?
Yes, I offer a floor-level, walk-in tub at my Callander location that makes grooming large dogs easy and convenient. Please note, I no longer accept extra-large breeds.
Will my dog be caged while at your salon?
No, I groom only one dog at a time, so there is no need to cage them. Occasionally, when appointments overlap, dogs may need to be separated, but they are never placed in cages. I never cage dogs while drying, as this can be dangerous if they are not closely supervised.
How much will it cost to get my dog groomed?
The price varies based on your dog’s size, coat condition, and temperament. If you text me and provide some details about your dog, I can give you an estimated price range. However, the exact cost will be determined after the grooming session is complete.
What vaccinations do you require?
None. As the owner, it is your duty to safeguard your dog’s health by keeping their vaccinations up to date.
Do you check dog’s anal glands?
No, I do not express anal glands because improper handling can cause more harm than good. Additionally, once you start expressing them, it often becomes necessary to continue regularly.
How long will the groom take?
Most dogs require between 45 minutes and 2 hours for grooming. However, heavily matted or very hairy dogs can sometimes take up to 3 hours.
Do you groom cats?
No, we do not groom cats.
Can I schedule recurring appointments for my dog?
Absolutely! We highly recommend setting up a recurring schedule so you never forget to book your appointments before mats develop.
Can I stay with my dog while he/she gets groomed?
We understand leaving your dog can be stressful, but rest assured they are in excellent care with us! Dogs often become more anxious when their owners remain nearby, making grooming more challenging. For insurance reasons and the safety of all dogs, we kindly ask that owners do not stay during the grooming process.
Every time I take my dog to a groomers, they always shave my dog right down, will you do this as well?
We only shave dogs when requested by the owner or if the dog is severely matted. We do not brush out mats as this causes discomfort and pain to the dog, and our priority is always the animal’s well-being. If your dog has mats and you prefer not to have them shaved, please bring your dog in more frequently for grooming. We use high-quality conditioner to help remove smaller mats, but large mats cannot be brushed out safely.
I want my dog shaved just before winter because I don’t get my dog groomed through the winter as he/she will get cold…will you do this?
We will shave your dog if you request it. However, it is important not to let your dog go all winter without grooming. Without regular care, your dog’s coat will become matted, causing discomfort and misery. Additionally, the nails will likely overgrow. It’s perfectly fine to keep your dog’s hair longer during winter, but regular grooming is essential to prevent matting and keep your dog comfortable.
Are you a certified groomer?
I was trained by experienced groomers and plan to pursue IPG (International Professional Groomers, Inc.) certification within the future. Obtaining this certification is a thorough and rigorous process. If you want your dog groomed by a certified professional, make sure the certification is from IPG, as other credentials do not hold the same recognized standard.
What should I do if I’m unhappy with my groom?
Please let us know if you are dissatisfied with anything. We will do our best to resolve it, but you must contact us within 48 hours. We can’t fix issues we aren’t aware of 🙂
